This course is designed to familiarize law enforcement personnel with basic Spanish to enhance communication and ensure safety between law enforcement officers and the Spanish speaking community. Officers will learn the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation, days, months, supplemental words, and numbers 0-9. Traffic stops and arrest situations are also covered. Officers will be exposed to cultural information, danger words and gang slang. Officers will learn how to gather information for reports conduct interviews to gather victim, witness, and suspect information. The course begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m.
