Gang Prevention and Intervention

This course is designed to teach the participants to identify students in school who may be members of a gang. Items to be discussed will include gang members “colors”, certain types of clothing, tattoos, brands, logo, and other identifying marks on their bodies. Hairstyles and communication through the use of hand signals and graffiti on walls, streets, school work, and school property are also identified. The need to develop communication with law enforcement to track and prevent gang growth is stressed. This course will also address the current gang trends, help participants recognize characteristics of gang activity and crime, and how to effectively deal with it. The course begins at 8:30 and concludes at 4:30 p.m.
