Narcotics Officer Certificate Program

This program consists of five, 3-day sessions that are delivered once a month for five months. Course material is most appropriate for officers with limited narcotics experience. However, even a seasoned investigator will be updated on current techniques and skills. Core program topics include: Arkansas Drug Laws, Drug Identification and Classification, Methamphetamine, Managing Informants and Cooperative Witnesses, Search and Seizure, Investigative Techniques, Undercover Investigations, Pharmaceutical Diversion, Evidence Collection, Report Writing, Surveillance, Resources, Intelligence, Criminal Defenses, and Courtroom Testimony. Participants will be required to attend all five components and pass all examinations to successfully complete the program.

To allow officers to fully participate in the program without spending an excessive amount of time away from their agencies and consequently, increase the number of officers who can attend this unique program, the Narcotics Officer Certificate Program is to be delivered in Monticello (Session VI) and Rogers (Session VII).

Letters of nomination are required for officers to attend this specialized courses because these courses have been designed for officers who have completed designated prerequisites or hold specialized positions within their agencies. Unless otherwise noted, heads of law enforcement agencies should direct correspondence and letters nominating their candidates to Dr. Cheryl P.
