Domestic Violence

Historically, law enforcement has been uncomfortable with domestic violence. This program is designed to familiarize officers with their changing roles in domestic violence situations. Course topics will include: The Dynamics of Abusive Relationships; Officer Safety Concerns; Interviews of Victims, Suspects, Children and Other Witnesses; Reporting; and Probable Cause Leading to Arrest and Successful Conviction. The course will explore proper evidence collection and documentation, as well as civil orders of protection. The course begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. each day.
