COURSE DESCRIPTION: Major crimes scenes, especially homicides, often contain blood pattern evidence that may be difficult to interpret. This four-day course is designed to introduce detectives, investigators, and crime scene personnel to the nature and value of bloodstain evidence. Utilizing hands-on exercises, students will be trained in the proper recognition and documentation of bloodstain pattern evidence. Proper procedures and documentation are imperative for reconstruction of events at a crime scene.
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Mr. Steve O'Dell
Steve O’Dell is the Director of the Crime Laboratory for the Baltimore Police Department. Mr. O’Dell is qualified in the forensic disciplines of serology, DNA, crime scene, crime scene reconstruction, and bloodstain pattern analysis. Mr. O’Dell is certified by the IAI as a Senior Crime Scene Analyst and Bloodstain Pattern Examiner.
