Criminal Data Collection: Information Sharing Training Program for Tribes

  • The goal of this project is to equip tribal law enforcement agencies nationwide with the knowledge and ability to accurately collect and report criminal statistical data via the UCRP (Uniform Crime Reporting Program) and the NIBRS (National Incident Based Reporting System) consistent with the JIEM (Justice Information Exchange Model).

The NCRLE will educate and train the agencies on the following:
    • Importance of sharing criminal data
    • Reporting procedures
    • How to accurately maintain criminal statistics
    • How to share information with the federal government.
  • These steps will demonstrate to the tribal agencies how to maintain and share their information so in the future they will become self sufficient in preparing and submitting their crime data.
