Rural Sexual Assault Investigation Curriculum

The Rural Sexual Assault Investigation Curriculum is a 30.5-hour tuition free course designed for rural sexual assault investigators. This curriculum will provide information on the dynamics of sexual assault; first responder responsibilities; victim/suspect interview techniques; first responder responsibilities; investigative techniques for stranger and non-stranger sexual assaults to include an emphasis on evidence potential and the documentation, collection, and preservation of the evidence; the roles of the sexual assault nurse examiner and victim advocates; and an interactive presentation from a rape survivor. A unique component of this curriculum will include hands-on, mock crime scene exercises. Session locations to be determined.
