I hope this communication continues to find each of you and your loved ones healthy and safe!  The COVID-19 pandemic has created many hardships in communities across our State, including budget shortfalls for Arkansas law enforcement agencies.  Thanks to the support of Dr. Donald Bobbitt and the CJI Advisory Board, we will be able to again offer scholarships for any law enforcement agency for the remainder of the current calendar year.  Scholarships will allow agencies unlimited access to all of CJI’s courses, both online and in person, from July 1st through December 31st, 2020.  Scholarship applications can be found online.  These applications must be submitted under the agency head’s name.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at cpmay@cji.edu if you have any questions.  While these are extraordinary times, we are all in this together and we are committed to doing everything we can to help.

Beginning on June 18th, CJI initiated our reopening plan by having half our staff on site and the other half working remotely.  This plan will allow us to transition to all being back on campus on July 13th.  In person classes will resume in early August.  Our staff are working diligently to finalize our fall schedule.  This will also include completion of Session LIV of the School of Law Enforcement Supervision (SLES) and Session XXII of the Crime Scene Technician Certificate Program (CSTCP).  In order to allow us to offer more classes given the need for social distancing, we will be hosting more in person classes across the state.  There are numerous new programs to be offered, but there are also many courses that were cancelled in the spring because of the COVID-19 crisis that will be delivered in the fall.

Our new course schedule will be available on our website in mid-July.  If you have any questions concerning SLES or CSTCP, please do not hesitate to contact Kimberly Hendricks- Jones (kdhendricks@cji.edu) or Annette Tracy (amtracy@cji.edu), respectively.

Please know we are extremely grateful for all you do for your community!!  Thanks so much for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.

Please stay safe!!

Best,

Doc
