Human Relations Training for Law Enforcement Personnel: Communicating and Building Relationships
This course is designed to assist law enforcement personnel in addressing the challenges of communications and relationships in the communities which they serve. A focus is placed on the important human relations skills that if not properly applied may lead to negative outcomes while performing and applying daily law enforcement related activities in the community. An introspection of attitudes and behaviors are examined to identify areas that are in need of improvement to increase the possibility of positive interactions. Participants will learn to: develop a human relations philosophy that is consistent with their organization’s values; demonstrate skills necessary to produce positive community contacts; discuss the consequences of negative behaviors as law enforcement practitioners; be able to articulate the importance of acquiring and applying good relationship skills; develop culturally competent communication and human relation skills that promote respectful and reciprocal interactions; and improve social competencies to build better workplace relationships.

• Class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
