The Criminal Justice Institute is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Program Specialist for CJI’s Traffic Safety Law Enforcement and Prosecutor Training Project.

The Arkansas State Police Highway Safety Office provides grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to support the Criminal Justice Institute’s Traffic Safety Law Enforcement and Prosecutor Training Project, the central source of nationally-recognized traffic safety certification courses for Arkansas law enforcement.

The SFST Program Specialist monitors and conducts a variety of training and education programs:
– Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST)
– Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
– Traffic Occupant Protection Strategies (TOPS)
– Drug Recognition Expert (DRE)
– Drug Impairment Training for Educational Professionals (DITEP)
– Drugged Driving (DD)

The SFST Program Specialist will provide general office support with a variety of clerical and administrative activities and assist in the management of the programs’ course offerings, records, and student enrollment. They will also provide logistical support for program activities; negotiate contracts with hotels and/or facilities; secure needed facility resources; assemble and review course material; register students for courses, manage enrollment records, and enter evaluation results into student database system; travel to program sites as necessary to introduce and facilitate the course, proctor and grade exams, and collect student evaluations; instruct selected portions of the program curriculum; and perform other duties as assigned.
