This dynamic and interactive course will educate participants in the prevention of the fastest growing killer of our most precious resource; our children.  This course will address why adolescents perceive suicide as an option, the scope of the adolescent suicide epidemic, the facts and the myths about suicide, societal causes of adolescent suicide, signs and symptoms of suicidal crisis, basic assessment of suicidal risk, the do’s and don’ts of working with depressed adolescents, how to engage depressed teens in conversation, and how to enlist the help of adolescents in the suicide prevention effort.
