This 8-hour class will demonstrate how narcotic investigations focusing on successful dismantling of drug trafficking organizations and the seizure of their illegally obtained assets are developed.  An emphasis on conspiracy and money laundering will allow students to develop complex cases resulting in a tremendous local impact in their areas.

From the gathering of information to developing case files, to report writing to the preparation for trial and all that’s in between will be explored to assist new investigators as they prepare to initiate and successfully dismantle drug organizations.  Topics include:

    • Drug Trends
    • Conspiracy vs. Buy-Bust Cases
    • Money Laundering
    • Asset Forfeiture
    • Note Taking

Upon completion of this class, students will be able to:

    • Understand current drug trafficking trends
    • Initiate and develop complex drug investigations
    • Recognize the need for independent financial investigations
    • Prepare professional reports
    • Assist prosecutors with the successful prosecutions of drug traffickers
