Law enforcement officers must relate to peers and those in their communities impartially to effectively increase positive interactions and help maintain good community relations. Critical factors to achieving these goals are recognizing we all have biases. This Cultural Diversity training examines the potentially harmful effects of implicit bias and the benefits of altering our perspectives and accepting cultural norms different from our own to diminish misconceptions, prejudices and discrimination. Participants will learn diversity is multi-dimensional and colorful! Emphasis will be placed on the fact that we are more alike than different, and how to achieve cultural competence by focusing on four key areas: knowledge, awareness, skills, and behavior.

This class is designed for all certified law enforcement officers and public service workers.
