DRE 2-Day Condensed Instructor Development Course
The Criminal Justice Institute is now accepting applications for the Drug Recognition Expert Instructor Development Course. Potential candidates will need to complete an application packet and return it by July 22, 2022. This certification course will be 16 classroom hours. The Candidate trains and certifies to become an instructor of the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program (DECP). This course certifies the candidate to teach Drug Recognition Expert School, Drug Recognition Expert Instructor Development, Drug Recognition Expert Refresher, and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE).
DATE AND LOCATION:
This course will be held at the Criminal Justice Institute, 26 Corporate Hill Drive, Little Rock, AR, August 1-2, 2022 (8 am through 5 pm or possibly later). For more information, please contact Ken Slocum at 501-570-8033.
Lodging and Travel:
For students traveling more than 50 miles to the training venue, lodging will be provided and all meals and mileage (personal vehicles only) will be reimbursed, if not provided. Any reimbursement will be at the state per diem rate.
Prerequisites:
Candidates must have the following:
- Current Certified Law Enforcement Instructor Development Certification
- Current SFST Instructor Certification
- At least one DRE Recertification
- 90% Toxicology rating on the NHTSA National Data Base
- Law Enforcement Officer/DRE in good standing
Course will also require (within 12 months of class):
The candidate to instruct 8 hours in the classroom of a DECP drug recognition training program (DRE School), as well as oversee four DRE Candidate Evaluations. It is highly recommended that the DRE Instructor Candidate be available to teach most of the next DRE School.
