Drones: Development, Implementation and Certification Preparation for Law Enforcement
Developing a sUAS program for law enforcement presents both technical and tactical challenges and many factors must be considered prior to the implementation of a sUAS program. Elements such as public relations and citizen concerns, sound policy, sufficient training and having comprehensive understanding of the laws and regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are crucial. The purpose of this instruction is to brief law enforcement officers on the development and implementation of a small unmanned aerial system program. This training will instruct the participants on areas of SUAS operations covering selection of operators to obtaining a COA / part 107 certification to fight operations. At the end of this training, participants will have an understanding of: FAA Certificates of Authorization (COA); FAA Licensing (Part 107); pilot selection criteria; training requirements and resources; equipment and software; operation safety; operating in airspace controlled by an Air Traffic Control Center; and common missions.
This class is suitable for all law certified law enforcement officers.
