Forensic Entomology
This 2-day course will cover the various applications of forensic entomology in legal investigations. Upon completion of this course, participants should understand the scope and applications of forensic entomology, identify patterns of insect colonization of human and animal remains, interpret insect response to trauma, and recognize the patterns of insect driven decomposition.
Participants will also process a mock crime scene for entomological evidence. Scene photography and documentation will be completed, and participants will work in small groups to collect entomological evidence. The content and format of entomological reports will also be reviewed and the relevant information that should be contained within reports will be discussed.
