For a patrol officer or deputy responding to a crime scene, practices differ depending on organization and standard operating procedures. But for a crime scene investigator, the initial response and techniques of patrol personnel responding to a crime scene can assist the success of an investigation in the long run. This course will provide insight on this process from a seasoned crime scene investigator as well as practical exercises to aid in the learning of these practices.

Participants will be better able to:
• Understand the importance of the law enforcement first responder to a crime scene
• View examples of photographs from differing crime scenes
• Professionally and confidently respond to varying crime scenes
• Properly document their involvement regarding their response and duties performed
• Prepare for court room testimony which will likely occur years later
