An officer’s ability to supervise staff effectively is critical to a department’s goal of maintaining stability in their respective agencies and in the communities they serve. This course presents an overview of a law enforcement supervisor’s role and addresses what is expected of those who are in leadership positions. Officers will learn techniques that can be used to guide the work of others as well as manage their own productivity. Course topics include types of authority, effective delegation, planning, training, the promotion process, performance evaluations, and the decertification process.
