VIPER: Vehicle Investigations Project for Enforcement Recovery: Level 1

Vehicle Investigations Project for Enforcement and Recovery: Level 1 is a course designed for patrol officers and investigators. This course will cover the 1981 NHTSA VIN standard, the Federal Motor Vehicle Theft Law Enforcement Act of 1984, identifying vehicles that have missing/fraudulent VIN plates, report writing, and investigative protocols.

At the end of this class, participants will be able to understand the 1981 VIN standard, recognize the indicators of vehicle theft, recognize an altered VIN plate/identification stickers, positively identify a vehicle with a missing or fraudulent VIN plate, and learn how to write an investigative report on the identification of a vehicle without releasing confidential information.

This class is open to all certified law enforcement officers.
