Keeping Kids Safe in a Cyberworld/Cyberbullies in Our AI World
These professional development sessions are dedicated to empowering educators, including teachers, administrators, counselors, media specialists, and SROs with the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure the safety of students and themselves in the online environment. Recognizing teachers as the linchpin in online safety, the session will review brain development for children and teenagers, dangerous apps students use, AI deep fakes, AI companion bots, gaming, cell phone safety, and sextortion. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational settings has introduced new challenges, notably the emergence of AI-driven cyberbullying. Educators must be equipped to recognize and address issues such as AI-generated deepfakes, manipulated media, and the ethical implications of AI use among students. This professional development session aims to provide K–12 educators and SROs with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify, prevent, and respond to AI-facilitated cyberbullying, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
