The Law Enforcement Management Division (LEMD) helps law enforcement professionals build the skills they need to lead effectively and meet the changing demands of the profession. Leadership, supervision, and management training remain a key part of the division’s mission, providing officers, supervisors, and command staff with practical strategies for leading people, managing resources, and strengthening their organizations.
In addition to leadership development, LEMD offers a wide range of professional development and specialty training for personnel at all levels. Courses address topics such as criminal investigations, officer safety, community relations, legal issues, policy development, risk management, specialized enforcement topics, and other challenges facing today’s law enforcement agencies. Programs are designed to provide practical knowledge and skills that officers can apply immediately in the field and within their agencies.
LEMD courses are taught by experienced law enforcement professionals and subject-matter experts from a variety of backgrounds. Training combines classroom instruction, discussion, practical exercises, and real-world application to create a relevant and engaging learning experience.
To ensure training remains current and responsive, LEMD works closely with agencies across Arkansas to identify emerging issues, evolving training needs, and opportunities for professional growth. Feedback from agencies and individual officers helps shape future course offerings and ensures programs remain relevant to the law enforcement profession.
