Tactical de-escalation training is designed to improve an officer’s response to individuals who are experiencing a crisis, behaving erratically, or exhibiting a high emotional state. The core principals of de-escalation involve time, effective communication, self-control, and the utilization of proper force options. When conducted properly, de-escalation tactics can increase the safety of both the public and the officer.

Many agencies have implemented classroom-based de-escalation training. This advanced de-escalation course is designed to transition officers from the classroom to reality-based practical scenarios. The scenarios are carefully designed to replicate real-life situations where de-escalation tactics were both effective and not effective. Simunitions will be utilized to induce levels of stress that officers experience in the field.

All training materials and gear will be provided by TLET. It is recommended that officers bring a long-sleeve shirt and pants/jeans suitable for Simunition markings. This course is for sworn law enforcement personnel only.
