Community, Culture, and Common Spanish
This course focuses on methods to help law enforcement officers better police, relate and understand the fast-growing Hispanic community as well as teach officers “danger” words, commonly used Spanish words and phrases to help them better obtain information when interacting with non-English speaking Hispanics. Hispanics and Latino Americans make up the largest minority group in the United States at 17.8%, and the number of Hispanics in the United States is over 56 million and over 200,000 in Arkansas. These numbers show the importance for law enforcement officers to know what to expect and how to better interact with this largest minority group.
