The actions of first responding uniformed officers directly impact the solvability and prosecution of criminal cases. Officers can inadvertently lose, destroy, or overlook critical evidence in the performance of their many duties as a first responder. In this course, officers will learn basic techniques for securing a crime scene and how to properly preserve evidence.  Common investigative mistakes and solutions will also be discussed. This course is geared toward uniformed patrol officers, though new investigators and crime scene personnel will also benefit. This course has been developed in collaboration with the International Crime Scene Investigators Association.

A printable online certificate will be issued at the conclusion of the course. Unfortunately, CJI is unable to accept international students at this time.

This is a 2 hour class.

This class is available at no charge.
