This online course was developed to provide a basic introductory overview of crime scene investigation. A general synopsis of forensic evidence and how to properly secure, protect, and process a crime scene will be discussed.  Investigators will learn the basics of the proper steps of crime scene investigation from the initial walk-through and scene evaluation to the crime scene documentation that includes note taking, photography, sketching, and final report. Types of evidence and their respective evidence potential will also be discussed. This course will benefit detectives/investigators, new crime scene specialists, and patrol officers who perform both patrol and investigative duties.

Students will be required to complete Crime Scene First Responder for the Uniformed Officer ONLINE prior to registering for this course.
