Drug Identification Online
This course will focus on the preliminary field identification of illegal and diverted legal drugs, as well as associated paraphernalia and serve as a tool to aid in the identification of drugs. Definitions of basic drug terminology and the scheduling of drugs as well as the chemical make-up of controlled substances and the manner in which they are produced for human consumption will be provided. The manner in which controlled substances are introduced into the human body and physical reactions caused by the use of dangerous controlled substances will be described. The information acquired will enhance the safety of professionals who work to keep our children safe.
In this course we will define and show examples of the following drug categories and some of the common paraphernalia associated with the use of each:
- Narcotic Analgesics including Heroin, Oxycodone, and Fentanyl
- CNS Stimulants
- CNS Depressants
- Hallucinogens
- Inhalants
- Dissociative Anesthetics (PCP)
- Cannabis (marijuana)
TARGET AUDIENCE: Law Enforcement and Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Professionals. This course was developed for DCFS and is considered a basic class for law enforcement.
