DWI Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Traffic Occupant Protection Strategies
DWI Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) 24 hours. This is a three-day training course that trains and certifies law enforcement officers to evaluate and administer the three-part standardized field sobriety test (SFST). The training follows the nationally standardized SFST curriculum developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Participants for this course must be law enforcement officers employed under the direct control of a public criminal justice agency.
Traffic Occupant Protection Strategies (TOPS) 4 hours. This is a four-hour course that teaches law enforcement officers about the safety of vehicle drivers and occupants through the use of seat belts, child safety seats, and supplemental restraint systems. Participants for this course must be law enforcement officers responsible for traffic enforcement, public safety education, and those actively involved with Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs (STEP).
