Grant Writing for Law Enforcement
This course is designed to aid police personnel in developing and refining their grant writing skills and understanding in the areas of grant planning and writing. Grant writing is the practice of completing a process for a financial grant provided by an grantor. Successful grant writing requires a clear understanding of the whole process. While the principles and fundamentals of grant writing apply broadly, it is important to know how to narrow your grant writing goals to align with the targeted grant you wish to secure. Understanding the process of a grant proposal from beginning to end is a big part of the success in grant writing. Students will also develop skills in the presentation, justification process, and project work within a group or as an individual. This course will also assist the police budget officer who has recently been assigned grant writing responsibility and has limited and/or no prior grant writing experience.
