This course is designed to train first responders across the state in the proper pre-hospital administration of intranasal naloxone to reduce the number of fatalities which can result from opiate overdoses.  This course will train first responders to identify the signs of an opioid overdose, properly administer naloxone, and protect themselves from any potential hazards associated with naloxone administration.

Objectives

  • Implement learned principals to streamline their roles in administering and the distribution of naloxone
  • Understand what can be expected when encountering an opioid overdose individual
  • Understand Arkansas legislation on naloxone and the Joshua Ashley-Pauley “911 Good Samaritan” Act
  • Develop a departmental policy to establish guidelines and regulations governing the utilization of Intranasal Naloxone administration
