COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Law enforcement reports often provide a record of evidence and document the elements of a crime, but often fail to fully document the victim’s perspective and how he or she was affected by sexual assault. When language that does not adequately reflect the nature of the reported crime is used, the actions of the victim and suspect tend to be sanitized, and when describing sexual acts, this often entails using words that bring to mind consensual sex. As a result of this training, officers will be able to utilize report writing techniques that accurately describe the reality of a sexual assault victim’s experience.

Target Audience:  Law enforcement officers who have taken Introduction to Sexual Assault Investigations for the Rural Investigator Online or Introduction to Sexual Assault Investigations for the Rural Executive Online prior to January 2019.

This course is federal grant-funded training and is specifically for rural states and all territories. Also included are rural areas as defined by The Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP).  To determine your eligibility please visit:
