Undercover Investigations

This course is designed to prepare participants to legally, safely, and effectively conduct undercover drug investigations. Topics will include the selection process for undercover agents, planning and executing undercover operations, drug interception investigative techniques, the use of informants, building and maintaining an undercover identity, search warrants, evidence handling, effective documentation and report writing, and legal considerations. To better prepare participants to manage the dangers inherent to covert operations, particular emphasis is placed on risk management. It is suitable for both new and experienced officers currently investigating narcotics offenses, and officers anticipating drug investigative assignments in the future.
