Prescription Drug and Opioid – Family Training Registration
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, almost 92,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2020. Approximately 75% of these deaths involved at least one opioid. In an effort to save lives, this course was created to help train first responders across the state in the proper pre-hospital administration of intranasal naloxone to reduce the number of fatalities that can result from opiate overdoses.
Objectives
- Implement learned principals to streamline their roles in administering and the distribution of naloxone
- Understand what can be expected when encountering an opioid overdose individual
- Understand Arkansas legislation on naloxone and the Joshua Ashley-Pauley “911 Good Samaritan” Act
- Develop a departmental policy to establish guidelines and regulations governing the utilization of Intranasal Naloxone administration

- This class is only available to select preapproved agencies through the Arkansas Prescription Drug/Opioid Overdose (PDO) Prevention Program.
