Prescription Drug and Opioid – Family Training Registration

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, almost 92,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2020. Approximately 75% of these deaths involved at least one opioid. In an effort to save lives, this course was created to help train first responders across the state in the proper pre-hospital administration of intranasal naloxone to reduce the number of fatalities that can result from opiate overdoses.

Objectives

  • Implement learned principals to streamline their roles in administering and the distribution of naloxone
  • Understand what can be expected when encountering an opioid overdose individual
  • Understand Arkansas legislation on naloxone and the Joshua Ashley-Pauley “911 Good Samaritan” Act
  • Develop a departmental policy to establish guidelines and regulations governing the utilization of Intranasal Naloxone administration
