Maltreatment and Drug Endangered Children
This course is designed to highlight the history of the Maltreatment and Drug Endangered Children Program in Arkansas. Review strategies used by community stakeholders to address children exposed to maltreatment and drug abuse issues, and the challenges faced by professionals working in law enforcement, courts and human services trying to keep children safe. Discuss how government agencies working together can improve the outcomes by building communities of trust and collaboration between law enforcement, child protective services and other agencies. The program is designed to improve safety for children through coordinated leveraging of information and resources between the department of human services and the criminal justice systems in the state of Arkansas.
Participants will learn the role of the core partners involved in DEC and gain a better understanding how collaborations work to keep the children impacted by child maltreatment and drugs safe. Participants will be given opportunities to use information provided during the training to apply information learned in role play activities and discussions.
Learning Objectives:
Participate in this two- hour course will learn:
- The goal of the Maltreatment and Drug Endangered Children Program.
- The role of law enforcement and DEC.
- The role of DCFS and DEC.
- The role of Community Corrections and DEC.
- Define DEC collaboration.
- Learn how DEC collaborations can help reduce risk to keep children safe.

- Complete Drug Endangered Children Online course
