Graduates of the School of Law Enforcement Supervision

The Criminal Justice Institute is proud to offer Arkansas’s premier leadership program for law enforcement supervisors—the School of Law Enforcement Supervision (SLES).

This elite four-week program is designed to provide first-line and mid-level supervisors with the tools, strategies, and confidence to lead with excellence in today’s complex law enforcement environment. SLES delivers cutting-edge instruction from nationally recognized subject matter experts in leadership, management, and supervision.


Program Highlights Include:

  • Leadership Skill Building
    Focused sessions on communication, decision-making, ethical leadership, and problem-solving in high-stakes environments.

  • Real-World Application
    Curriculum is tailored to the daily challenges supervisors face—emphasizing policy, personnel issues, and community engagement.

  • Case Study Analysis
    Participants evaluate real-life incidents to improve critical thinking and command-level response skills.

  • Legal and Liability Training
    Up-to-date instruction on supervisory liability, policy development, and legal considerations in personnel management.

  • Peer Learning & Networking
    Cohort-based learning encourages the exchange of experiences and best practices among supervisors statewide.

  • Capstone Research Paper
    Each participant completes a research paper on a supervision-related topic, with potential for publication or agency use.


Fall 2025 Session:

We are currently accepting letters of nomination from agency heads for this upcoming session. Sessions meet once per month over four months.

September 15-19 | October 13-17 | November 10-14 | December 8-12

🔹 Nomination Deadline: August 4, 2025
🔹 Minimum rank: Sergeant
🔹 Limited lodging assistance is available for officers residing 50+ miles from CJI. (Please include lodging requests in the nomination letter.)
