Officer Involved Critical Incident Investigations

The use of force—especially deadly force—by law enforcement officers is under constant scrutiny both within and outside the profession. Properly conducting thorough and professional investigations into these incidents is critical.
Officer Involved Critical Incident Investigations is a NEW two-day training designed for detectives, patrol officers, supervisors, administrators, and others involved in investigating or reviewing officer-involved shootings.
This class is coming to the Criminal Justice Institute on March 17-18.
Participants will gain knowledge and a better understanding of the investigation process and what occurs during each phase of the investigation. Discussions and presentations on investigative topics and techniques that include the latest research and information regarding officer involved shootings will be beneficial to the newest detective as well as the most seasoned investigator.
This course will help detectives ensure that they are properly equipped to conduct an officer-involved use of force investigations or an officer-involved shooting. Participants will gain knowledge regarding how to handle and investigate one of the most important types of cases in their careers. Case studies, court decisions, grand jury outcomes, and trial outcomes will all be discussed, providing the class participants with a unique opportunity to study cases from the beginning to their conclusion.
