Using Geofence Warrants in Criminal Investigations is coming to the Criminal Justice Institute in October!

Location information is being constantly collected and stored by various companies, primarily for research and marketing purposes.  This information can be made available to investigators and used to identify suspects.

The concept is simple; execution, however, can be complicated.  Results obtained must be appropriately analyzed in order to correctly identify a suspect device or determine if one even exists within the dataset.  This tool can be extremely powerful for the investigator but is frequently very misunderstood.

This two-day course will take a deep dive into geofence warrants, including legal process, design, and data analysis.

NOTE: Participants should have a baseline working knowledge of spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets), including pivot tables, and Google Earth Pro*.  It is also recommended that participants bring a laptop with them and have access to their department’s reporting system to obtain information about outstanding cases.
